Privacy policy

Effective 30 May 2026 v1
The policy, in one line

Simscanner processes only the data needed to serve and improve the site.

Server access logs are retained for 90 days. A single language-preference cookie is set per visit. No personal data is sold, no behavioural profile is built across visits, no advertising trackers are loaded by default. Data subject rights under GDPR and CCPA are honoured. The full policy follows.

What Simscanner records

Data collected

Simscanner records a minimal data set per visit. Server access logs capture the requested URL, response code, user agent string, and IP address truncated to the network prefix. A single client-side preference cookie stores language and viewport choices; the cookie is set only after explicit interaction. No advertising trackers are loaded by default. No behavioural profile is built across visits. No personal data is sold or rented.

How long data is held

Retention

Server access logs are retained for 90 days then deleted. Aggregate analytics (page-view counts per route, deduplicated per session) are retained for 24 months. The language-preference cookie persists for the browser session or until cleared. No long-term identifier is set. No data is exported to advertising platforms.

Access, correction, deletion

Your rights

Visitors have the right to request a copy of any personal data Simscanner holds about them, to request correction of inaccurate data, and to request deletion subject to retention obligations. Requests are handled within 30 days. Simscanner uses the requester's email solely to process the request and does not retain the request communications beyond what is required for audit. To exercise these rights, see the Contact section below.

Who else processes site data

Third parties

Hosting infrastructure is provided by a third party that processes server access logs on Simscanner's behalf under a data processing addendum. Font assets are served by Google Fonts; the request includes the visitor's IP address. Brand favicons are loaded from a Google favicons service. No additional third-party scripts, analytics platforms, advertising trackers, or fingerprinting services are loaded by default.

How to reach Simscanner about privacy

Structured data on this page: Article BreadcrumbList. No FAQPage schema is emitted: this policy is a single declarative document. No Product, Offer, AggregateRating, or Review schema is used.
Notes for the delivery team
  • The build brief's "Crawlable FAQ" instruction asks for a visible FAQ on every page, but the zero-paid-placements content pack explicitly renders no FAQ section and supplies no FAQ copy (section 7 and section 11). The content pack is treated as the source of truth, so no FAQ section and no FAQPage schema are emitted here. Confirm this is intended before sign-off.
  • Enforcement-map cards link to internal QA files (qa/qa-checklist.md, qa/schema-audit.md, qa/internal-link-audit.md) using the ../ relative convention. Confirm those files exist in qa/ at port time.
  • This is the reusable policy template. The same chrome renders /policies/editorial, /policies/data-sources, /about, and the remaining policy family by copy substitution only.
  • Internal links use the ../ relative convention from the brief and resolve to clean URLs after the post-extraction rewrite.
